While traversing the road connecting Brgy. Salog and Brgy. San Juan (Roro), I chanced to notice a construction across the Salog River. A bridge is being constructed connecting three barangays – San Juan (Roro), Bibincahan and Salog.
According to Google Map, this area where the bridge is being constructed is still part of Brgy. Bibincahan (take this as a grain of salt because Google also shows that Burabod Elementary School is part of Brgy. Polvorista). I know the bridge is near the Sts. Peter and Paul Ville Subdivision, but there’s no road connected being worked on yet.
In the mid-80s, there was a bridge connecting Brgy. Bibincahan and Brgy. San Juan (Roro) via subdivision’s gate two. The exit in Roro was just beside the barangay basketball court. Except for the concrete bridge, the Roro section was dirt road and sorrounded by rice field (until last year, the old access road could still be seen but now it’s fenced). The subdivision side, it’s now occupied by varous residents. Only pedestrians can pass by and exit at housing area. The said bridge was washed out around 1987; the LGU attempted to repair it once or twice, but the succeeding typhoons made it moot. Bear in mind that in the 80s, the tributaries of Salog River in Brgy. Bibincahan had more flowing water.
I commend the LGU for making this happen as it decongest Magsaysay Street and makes it easier for those traveling in the interior of the said barangays more efficient.
