Collision kills 3 in Sorsogon City

SORSOGON CITY—Three persons were dead and three others injured on Wednesday in a collision between a government ambulance and a bus on a highway in a village here.

Killed were Benjie Guarte, 30, driver of the ambulance; Marilyn Ladimo, therapist of the Juban rural health unit, and Sarah Jane Enano, who died as she was being taken to a hospital.

Supt. Edgardo Ardales, city police chief, said the ambulance was negotiating a sharp curve on Maharlika Highway in Barangay Rizal when it collided with a bus driven by Noel Pacala, 40, of Daet, Camarines Norte.

The bus came from Samar and was bound for Manila. The ambulance was on its way to Juban.

Ardales said the driver of the ambulance may have lost control of his vehicle and strayed into the bus’ lane. The ambulance, he said, was a total wreck. The bus driver surrendered. Mar Arguelles, Inquirer Southern Luzon
