Sorsogon City water district completes water pipeline interconnection

SORSOGON CITY, June 14 (PIA) — ” With a project cost of P163,515.38 and with a total lentgh of 648 linear meters, the Sorsogon City Water District (SCWD) has just completed a 50 mm diameter pipeline interconnection at the BLISS Macabog here”, Mr. Andy G. Fercia Jr. officer in charge of the SCWD Maintenance Division said during an interview here this week.

“This is to better serve the public and to provide safe and enough water to the constituency of the city.”

He said that the Macabog BLISS pipeline interconnection is with a 100mm diameter PVC pipeline that will facilitate the easy flow of water distribution to households.

The completion of the Macabog BLISS pipeline interconnection will also augment the the supply of water in the Diversion Road which serves mostly the residents of Macabog, part of Our Lady of the Penafrancia Subdivision, the Miraculous Medal Subdivision, Springville Subdivision and the Sorsogon Provincial Hospital.

According to Fercia, this project is one of the priority concerns of the SCWD started early March of this year and one of the main thrusts of their entity as an answer to the demand for a fast growing population in the three subdivisions here.

He also stressed that with this new connection there will no longer be water interruption or water flow scheduling in these areas.

It can be recalled that in the Milleneum Development Goals (MDG) water and basic sanitation services requires the improvement of its supply for consumers.

Engr. Ronaldo Borbono, General Manager of the SCWD said that the completion of the BLISS Macabog pipeline is an enhancement to their 2011 water suffiency program which is essential to better the service of their entity.

“We are aware that the MDG’s global goal so that the SCWD is there to provide the constituency safe drinking water by installing additional pipelines where water can be accessed is also in compliance with the Clean Water Act of 2004″, he said.

“Today, the people of the City of Sorsogon will be provided better service but we would also like to solicit their assistance to promote water conservation by reporting immediately to us some concerns especially if their finds leaks and also take responsibility to report some concerns to better our service”, he added.
