SORSOGON CITY, June 9 (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Sorsogon will be this year’s host to the Bicol Region‘s Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) “Go Negosyo Caravan” slated June 22-23 at the Aemilianum College Inc., here.
“This will also be one of the major activities during the weeklong celebration of the fiesta of the City of Sorsogon , this June 28-29” , DTI provincial director, Lea Pagao, explained yesterday during the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Council (SMED-C) meeting at the DTI office. .
“The Go Negosyo Caravan is DTI’s national initiative to improve access and awareness of SMEs to government and private sector services particularly to areas where provision of business development services may be limited”, Pagao stressed.
Three hundred participants are expected to attend this activity comprising of business entrepreneurs from Bicol region with the province of Sorsogon expected to share the 50% number of participants.
“TODO DISKWENTO PROJECT’, a milestone project of DTI as a private- public partnership has been initiated yearly. Here 7 leading establishments offer discounted prices for almost all school supplies before the opening of classes. Once more, these establishments will coincide with the SME Go Negosyo Caravan.
Jocelyn Berango, Information Officer of DTI explained the mechanics and program flow of the event that will also highlight the awarding of leading SMEs here in the province.
The National Food Authority and the San Miguel Corporation will be the main participants of the Todo Diskwento Project to sell canned and other processed food on a discounted rate while NFA will sell their rice on its lowest price.
The SME Go Negosyo Caravan according to Pagao will also be this year’s Bicol initiative to increase and sustain SME’s productivity and efficiency with experts of resource speakers from leading institutions to provide the participants training and counseling sessions to strengthen and promote entrepreneurship as a development mechanism on the countryside.
Choosing the Right Market and Project Development, Business Plan Preparation, Putting Business Online, Requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices, Credit Searching Management, Packaging and Labeling Requirements and Franchising, these will be the topics to be discussed during the separate simultaneous sessions where participants can choose during the first and second day.
Key persons with no less than USEC Merly M. Cruz, Undersecretary of DTI- ROG, Engr. Jocelyn LB. Blanco, regional director, DTI-RO5, Sorsogon Governor, Raul R. Lee and City Mayor Leovic R. Dioneda will grace to support and endorse the event. (MAL/IAG, PIA Sorsogon)
