Exploring Sorsogon – Kiosko

Kiosko, or Kiosk in English, is a gazebo-like structure at the corner of the Sorsogon Provincial Capitol compound, along Rizal Street. It’s a well known tambayan of the locales, especially those taking a rest from playing basketball (there’s a court beside it).

Kiosko is located in the Prov'l Capitol Compound, just beside the PNB building. The vendors can be seen in the background.

During fiesta or holiday season, the streets along the Sorsogon Tennis Club are filled with vendors, selling their wares. Sometimes, these vendors are allowed (yes, by the local government, but not sure if prov’l’s or city’s) to occupy the basketball court beside it.

I have no idea when it was built. But the structure hasn’t changed since I was a kid. And it still serves its purpose – tambayan ng bayan.
