NAGA CITY, Philippines – Suspected New People’s Army members shot dead a member of the Citizens’ Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) Sunday morning in Barangay (Village) Guruyan in Juban, Sorsogon, an Army official said.
Pedro Rodriguez, 33, was in his house at around 7:30 a.m. when two suspected NPA members entered his home and shot him, said Major Harold Cabunoc, public information officer of the 9th Infantry Division based in Camp Elias Angeles in Pili, Camarines Sur.
Rodriguez’s cousin, Ronald, sustained gunshot wounds in the left leg, Cabunoc said.
Witnesses said Rodriguez had received death threats.
Rodriquez was the second militiaman to be killed this week after the shooting of Cafgu member Elmer Eusebio, who was killed in front of his family in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Pandan, Catanduanes, last Monday.
